The last thing you would want on your business trip is another added problem of your laptop going missing or your valuables, like any other big cities, there would always be some pickpockets / Taxi drivers cheating on your money, etc..
GETTING TO YOUR HOTEL
Once you have arrived at the airport, if your company has already booked a transport transfer for you then this would not be relevant for you. If not, you can either book a grab from your mobile and be sure to double-check on the license plate on your mobile phone & the car itself.
ENSURE TO BRING MORE CASH THAN USUAL
In Vietnam, especially if it is out of the major cities, is still a cash-based economy, the majority of the places won’t accept credit cards and ATMs can be quite limited.
TRAFFIC IS WILD
If you can drive in Vietnam, you can drive anywhere else around the world.
Especially when crossing the street, be cautious of motorbikes and cars travelling towards you, especially if it is your first time being in Vietnam, you will find crossing the road extremely scary. But there are some reasons for this, the motorbikes that are moving and anticipating your movements are actually trying to avoid hitting you. Be prepared for some cyclists that would still cross the road even after the light has changed.
Not all taxi drivers are frauds but to be safe, stick with a reliable company like Grab, it is way cheaper and trustworthy. However, if you have to take a taxi because you are already late for your meeting, ensure to tell the taxi drivers to turn on the meter.
